What happens
- In Korea you can go straight to a dermatology clinic without a referral from a general doctor.
- Many clinics take free online reservations. Some ask for a deposit.
- Treatment is done by the clinic's medical staff after a consultation.
Before you book
- Check the sign. A clinic named 'pibugwa uiwon' (dermatology clinic) should have a board-certified dermatologist.
- Clinics run by other doctors can still list dermatology as a treatment area, so ask about the doctor's specialty.
- Specialists quoted in a 2026 report advise booking procedures near the end of your trip.
- Read our treatment pages before your consultation so you know the terms.
Watch out for
- The VAT refund for foreign patients on cosmetic and skin procedures ended on December 31, 2025.
- Online reviews can be paid for. In July 2026 Korea's Fair Trade Commission ordered three clinics to correct reviews posted by people who got discounts without saying so.
- Mild swelling or warmth after some procedures can last from a day to a week.

Next step: choosing a shop yourself
- Pick two or three shops near where you are staying. The neighborhoods above are where most listings are.
- Send each shop the same questions: the total price with tax, whether it is per person, whether English is available, and the deposit and cancellation rule.
- Compare the written answers. Booking-site banners are often promotions and change without notice.
- For lasers, injections or anything a doctor does, read the treatment page first and ask the clinic for its registration to treat foreign patients.
